Overview

Experienced E&I Design Engineer that leverages their expertise in electrical & instrumentation design and engineering to create innovative solutions for control systems. You’ll work closely with clients, vendors and internal teams to deliver E&I design packages, support project execution and drive process improvements.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate customer specifications, standard operating procedures, and documentation relating to control panels and electrical design for manufacturing customers
  • Design/create/edit panel layouts, bills of materials, instrumentation data sheets and electrical schematics for controls enclosures
  • Self-checking of all work for accuracy
  • Provide technical support for panel fabrication technicians
  • Inspect completed control enclosures

Day to Day Activities:

  • Review of electrical & instrumentation design and build
  • Participate in design review meetings
  • Ability to design Control Cabinet layouts including PLC hardware, Power Supplies, Instrumentation, and all electrical equipment associated with project with good wiring and layout practices in mind.
  • Understands all aspects of the Wiring Codes such as NEC and NFPA, Conduit and Cable Schedule and P&ID drawings.
  • Works with Engineering team on electrical initiatives needed for the project Field Verification of Drawings (as required)
  • Participate in and troubleshoot point to-point-loop checks for all instrumentation
  • Support field verification of drawings, commissioning and qualification activities at customer sites

Qualifications

  • General knowledge of electrical circuitry, ISA, NFPA, NEC, and/or IEC codes
  • 2-7 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation design
  • Ability to recognize and offer suggestions for continued improvement within the CAD Team for efficiency and accuracy
  • Knowledge and understanding of controls systems is a plus
  • Self-motivated, excellent communication skills, and enjoy working with people
  • Associate Degree or B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology or related degree
